The Story Of Those Were The Days

Jukebox Tebordet
melodin i midiformat
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Happy birthday, Leonid Brezhnev

What a lovely seventy-fifth
We watched the party on TV
You seemed to be taking things casually
What a mighty heart must beat in your breast
To hold forty-nine medals on your chest
Think of all the gifts that you've got
Some were acquired and some were not
Like a natural talent for marionettes
Who do your dirty work and cover your bets
So with one hand waving free
The other one crushed a budding democracy

Congratulations, Jaruzelski

What a wonderful job you have done
Let me mention to a sane man's eye
You've lost the meaning of compromise
They're comparing you to General Pinochet
It's a dubious compliment at best
Your people are freezing, the workers are bleeding
You've already arranged numerous deaths
The only difference in the camps from the stadiums
Is not much for the doomed all cry
It's only the weather and the songs people sing
Just before they die

Do you hear us, Lech Walesa?

What a terrible price you have paid
For being ahead of your time
Has surely constituted a crime
Oh, Mr. Brezhnev, look
Somebody read the little red book
And took it all seriously
The way you did when you were young and you believed
And you workers and you black Madonna
You're not supposed to utter a word
But the courage of you and your man of the year
Is a symphony the world has seldom seen or heard
Through the Siberian gates of hell
The Pope and the bishops are wishing you well
We see your candles in the park
Hear your fearless promises in the dark
How they cheat and when tried to win
They didn't know that there would always be within you
And we hear you, Lech Walesa
Yes, we hear you, Lech Walesa
Yes, we hear you, Lech Walesa
Yes, we hear you, Lech Walesa

Riksdagsvisa
(1828)
text:
Carl Fredrik Dahlgren

Argus, en oppositionstidning
Redaktör, Johan Johansson,
även kallad Valfisken.
Föregångare till Aftonbladet.
Argus, känd för sina långa artiklar,
i visan, långkatches.

Är det sant, att riksdag snart man får, sann?
Ganska visst, ty det i Argus står, sann.
Högt ifrån tribunen
Han ur trädbasunen
Blåst densamma ut till nästa år, sann.
Fåfängt, må I veta,
Är mot farbror streta,
Han har så befallt och saken går, sann.

Vem skall då vår riksdag föra an, sann?
Argus, kära bror, och ingen ann, sann?
Han, med långa bena,
Framför oss skall skena,
Driva verket på som själva f-n, sann.
Han kan bäst orera,
Dito balansera
Honom ska vi ha till taleman, sann.

Intet utskott skall då mera ges, sann,
Farbror undantagen och hans niece, sann.
De skall allting rätta,
Och i spalter sätta
Enligt Argi egen långkatches, sann.
Ingen alls få tala,
Farbror ensam gala,
På publicitet sig skrika hes, sann.

Allmän tryckfrihet man då skall få, sann.
Argus fritt kring land och rike gå, sann,
Hållas av var bonde,
Självaste hin onde
Ha´n som käpphäst till att rida på, sann.
Bok blir överflödig,
Argus endast nödig;
Han från predikstoln skall läsas då, sann.

Alla länsmän skall man slå ihjäl, sann.

Bota statens brister;
Då all världens guld skall strömma hit, sann.
Hurra för profeten
Och Argusiteten!
Den ej hurrar med är Jesuit, sann.
